The exclusion of the headphone jack will especially follow Apple’s rather debatable move back few months back when it became one of the first prominent phone manufacturers to do away with the legacy audio port from its iPhone 7.

A buzz in September echoed that Samsung could perhaps remove the headphone jack considering it was also seemingly working on its own proprietary port to substitute it. While we learnt from today’s report that it has been confirmed (the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack), the proprietary port’ fate is not evident as a different report from the blog ratifies the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a USB Type-C port similar to the Note 7 for sure.
The elimination of the Home button is something that other Android manufacturers and Apple are believed to be seeing for coming devices. Details on the phone’s screen resolution have also been brought to light by the report which will seemingly stay at a 2K 2560×1440 resolution. By removing the Home button, Samsung is likely to embed an optical fingerprint sensor of sorts into the phone’s display.
It is expected that Samsung would release the device in February at Mobile World Congress. Till then let us wait to see what the company has in store for us this time!
