How to Restore Dell Laptop to Factory Settings?

Following are the steps you need to undertake in order to restore your Dell laptop to its factory settings. However, the procedure may vary slightly, depending upon the model of your laptop.
Hard Reset Dell Laptop
Please keep in mind that restoring your computer to its default factory settings will delete all the data on the C drive. Therefore, it is greatly advised that you back up any important files before getting started with the reset.
Begin by restarting your computer by clicking Start > arrow next to the Lock button > Restart.
As the computer restarts, press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.
Note: It is necessary that you press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears on the screen. In case you press it afterwards, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear. If the Advanced Boot Options menu does not appear on the screen, restart the computer, and repeat the steps given above, until you see the menu on the screen.Press the Down arrow and select the Repair Your Computer option on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter. Select your language setting and then click Next.
Log in as an administrative user, and click OK. Then click the Dell Factory Image Restore option.
In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click on Next. Check the box that reads Yes, reformat the hard drive and restore system software to factory conditions, followed by Next.
The computer will now restore to its default factory settings. Once the restore operation is completed, click on Finish to restart your computer.
