With the announcement of the LG G6 at MWC, ‘Release season’ has started off this weekend. However, that’s not the only major flagship that is to release soon. Samsung will be showing the Galaxy S8 at an event in New York City as well.
According to reports, LG is planning to release the LG G6 on March 10th. Following the February 26th announcement, Samsung will open up pre-orders for the device from March 2nd to March 9th. This will be the first time that LG beats Samsung to the combat with its flagship phone.

Samsung, on the other hand, is ready to launch the Galaxy S8 soon afterwards, and subsequently, release the device later on. The company is planning to release the device on a global scale on April 21st. Earlier, it intended to launch the phone domestically (in Korea) a week earlier. However, changed that for using more reliable supplies. That is perhaps a good idea after the Note 7 debacle.
It is now known when pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will start. However, the expected time is mid-April. According to an analyst, if response to the LG G6 is good, Samsung may open up pre-orders a little earlier.
Presale has significant value in strategy of utilizing marketing. If initial responses towards LG G6 are positive, there is a chance that Samsung Electronics will open up preorder for Galaxy S8 earlier than expected.
When we will get our hands on these phones we will be able to make comparison between the two as both pack large, bezel-less displays and have similar features such as water resistance.
