MissileType is a simple game designed to make typing practice more entertaining and therefore encourage regular practice. You are an integral part of a star base defense core. As enemy ships descend on the star base they are shielded preventing your gunners from taking them out. You must read the shield codes and type them into the defense computer. The star bases gun emplacement will then take out the unshielded ships. A long-range scan will help you to plan your strategy. You can set the speed of the game (from 1 - slow to 20 - fast). This speed will be remembered the next time you play. In this way as your typing gets faster you can increase the speed you wish to play at. Increasing the speed will also increase the scoring rewarding your attempts to get faster. There are approximately 6000 words in the three text files that come with the game. The lists have been reduced to eliminate uncommon or undesirable words. A minimum processor speed of 300 MHz is recommended and DirectX is required. The scoring is based on the frame speed so if your computer can only accommodate slower speed settings it will not make affect the scoring too much.
