“We are overwhelmed with the amount of consumer participation and positive reception to Project CSX… As the first smartphone manufacturer to take on crowdsourcing its next mobile device from start to finish, we are proud of how this project pushed the envelope, and that consumers from around the world have chosen to be part of this industry-disrupting process” Lixin Cheung, the company’s United States CEO said regarding the project.
A futuristic device…
The idea here is a 5.5-inch smartphone having compact bezels of metal or polycarbonate which would have the power to eye-tracking. The eye-tracking would enable the device to sense where you focus on the display to carry out various actions. Like, you could magnify or highlight lines of text you are reading or scroll on a page. Dual-display technology is also required for this idea that would change the image on-screen if another person tries to view it. While the idea appears to be a bit too futuristic to release by 2017, let us see what ZTE is really capable of achieving.
Self-adhesive feature
When it comes to the self-adhesive feature it requires a special accessory to attach to the device in case a lasting way cannot be used. It would enable you to attach the smartphone to a surface (like a wall) to make the most of the eye-tracking features.
“Now that the world has told us what they want ZTE to build, we are entering the product development phase of Project CSX. However, the crowdsourcing element may not be completely over, as we look to continue to keep consumers at the forefront of everything we do – in this case, helping to determine the official device name to determining the product colors and more.” ZTE United States VP of technology planning & partnerships expressed regarding the device.
Let us wait and see what ZTE will actually be able to bring to us in 2017.
