Peter Thiel’s weird radio silence was noted last week pertaining to the theatrical disintegration of Donald Trump, whom the Facebook board member stumped for at the Republican National Convention. But according to reports, Thiel is not even close to abandoning his applicant.
A notable change in Thiel’s method
The latest endowment is a shift in Thiel’s technique of backing up the Republican candidate. Earlier, he did endorse in public but didn’t not bankroll Trump’s campaign in real. Back in August, a spokesperson for Thiel expressed that the purpose of Peter Thiel donating funds had no intention to the campaign or a pro-Trump political action committee. The latest move suggests Thiel respects Trump’s increasing sexual harassment gossips as something more than just a diversion. According to the Times, “Thiel ... apparently is unfazed by the storm around the candidate in the last week following the broadcasting of lewd conversations recorded by the syndicated program Access Hollywood.”
Thiel’s outstanding tolerance
This shows that Thiel is much keen to put up with Trump’s attitude towards women; like immodest about probing them without agreement, labeling his accusers as fabricators, and sliming the reporters who cover the charges.
Thiel’s own politics may have stimulated some compassion for Donald Trump’s dilemma. In one of his essays, Thiel noted that women’s suffrage was unsuited with capitalist democracy. Thiel’s devotion to Trump is mainly remarkable given the billionaire’s dead explanation for backing various lawsuits to bring down Gawker.
Will $1.25 million change the game?
While in political fundraising, Peter Thiel donating $1.25 million is not really an amount that may be considered as a game changer, it will do little to rear Hillary Clinton’s overpowering monetary lead over her rival. Thiel has much more than $1.25 million to distribute and also has other things to spend his finances on such as seasteading or experimental blood transfusions.
Compared to his other diversions, Trump’s campaign appears to be something very trivial. Like to put Gawker Media out of trade, Thiel spent about $10 million.
