Yet another disappointment related to Google’s forthcoming Pixel flagship. Not only will the phone come at a premium, it seems that this gadget will not be a first-rate phone regardless of its cost. According to the latest buzz, it will not be water resistant; the phone will be rated at IP53 only.
Those who do not know what IP ratings are all about, here is some basic information. The first number is for dust resistance while the other one is meant for water. As far as dust is concerned, it is not completed prevented, but it does provide sufficient protection against dust. On the other hand, it can resist water in minor instances such as water falling as a spray.
It is thus similar to Apple’s new iPhone that is formally IP67 waterproof now and Samsung’s latest flagships that are IP68. So Pixel by Google can only withstand temporary heavy rain.
Considering the device costs $650, we sure do expect more than this. Though specs look good, they are not going to be good enough if Google wants to hook the usual consumers. Will its marketing campaign do the impossible? We don’t think so!
