In addition to learning about the launch of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones, we have got to new various new things from the company alongside. The latest information gives us a fair idea about what Pixel actually means for Google.
Pixel “Made by Google”
There are couple of things that we have particularly got to know. Firstly, we are now clear that the pixel devices are all about. All doubts have now ended. Yes, we can now day with all confidence that these phones are made by Google. The Pixel phones are indeed conceptualized, designed, engineered and tested in-house.
Behind the scene
Google did contract HTC to assemble the Pixel line, the approach is not different from that of Apple Apple’s partnership with iPhone builder Foxconn. Made by Google is what you see when you Flip the Pixel over. It is an additional tip of the hat to Apple that has been saying that its devices are “Designed by Apple in California.” Google will never claim that the Pixel is co-engineered with anybody else. It belongs to the company solely, they would say it with pride.
Android enthusiast may be sure that the Pixel is originally made by HTC. However, as per Google, its devices are not based on any HTC phone. The “seller of record” for the line will be none but Google. The supposed HTC “partnership” actually sees the Taiwanese manufacturer just as the assembler of the devices. It is much similar to how Foxconn manages the creation of iPhone.
Google focusing on its existing products
As far as we know, a Huawei-made “Nexus” tablet is on its way, but it looks as though that device will not sport the Nexus brand. According to reports, Google is not planning to launch any new Nexus-branded devices. The same way verified by the Google Nexus Twitter account. Thus the company has said adieu to all possibilities, bringing its focus on support for current products once again.
